September Birchbox

Monday, 6 October 2014

This is currently a little late in being posted as I received it ages ago, but I have been a little busy with starting back into university for my forth and final year! Before September's box had arrived I had seen some great things about it being posted online so was very excited when it finally came. This box came with a number of little extras like the Birchbox photo clip and Urban fruit Mango, which was delicious!

BeautyBlender & BeautyCleanser; £26 - I love the idea of this little egg to apply my foundation as it reduces lines and streaks to give a more even coverage across my face. Not only that but the shape of the sponge with its pointed tip lets me easily access hard to reach places, like the inner corner of my eyes so I don't miss anywhere. This also comes with a cleanser in the bottom of the packaging so you can easily clean the blender after use. Genius!

Agave Healing Oil Treatment - I am not overly keen on hair oils, I find they can leave my hair looking too oily at the roots and still dry around the ends so for me this wasn't a great product to receive. But nonetheless I shall endeavour to give it a go in the coming future.

Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream; £25.50 - I adore everything about Benefit from their range of products down to their packaging, so receiving anything by them is always a plus in my books. Currently I have been trying to expand my Benefit skin care and this was next on the list. I suffer terribly from black circles under my eyes and have heard this product works miracles, I cannot rave more about it, it deserves its own post which I will be sure to feature in the next few weeks to come.

Model Co Powerlash Black Mascara; £24 - Before I even got the chance to get this out of the box to test it my mum called dibs. She has been looking for a new mascara and decided to try this one since I had received it in my box, from what I have heard she really likes it but for £24 it is not something I would personally rush out and buy.

Korres Citrus Showergel; £8 - Before signing up to Birchbox Korres was a brand I had heard very little about. After receiving a bodymilk from them a few boxes ago I find myself really liking their products and especially the packaging. This showergel smells fantastic and I felt as know it really hydrated my skin. I like to mix up my showergels regularly so having a couple of go to scents always goes down well.

Overall I am pretty pleased with September's box, I really enjoyed using the BeautyBlender and Benefit eye cream but found the photoframe a little tacky and wasn't something I was likely to use in my home. I enjoy the chance of trying new products I wouldn't necessarily had the chance to before, and if you are looking to try and beautybox I would definitely recommend Birchbox, plus if you sign up here you can get 50 Birchbox points which you can redeem against your favourite products!

Birchbox August

Friday, 12 September 2014

I was super excited when I started seeing reviews of the August Birchbox because of the cute little pouch that it has come in. I haven't had the time to blog in a little while, as I've just come back from a last minute holiday in Tunisia. Thankfully this Birchbox arrived just before I jetted off so this little pouch came in incredibly handy to take in my hand luggage. I adore Birchbox for their little sample sizes which meant I was able to take quite a number of samples away with me. The CC Cream was perfect for retouching my make-up on the flight, and previous boxes included facial moisturisers and hand creams were so useful.

My favourite product out of this months box has been the CC cream. Not only does it feel light and refreshing on my skin but it also leaves an even coverage on my skin ready to apply my foundation. I would totally recommend it to anyone who is looking to try a CC cream.

February Birchbox

Thursday, 6 March 2014

So this February Birchbox is a little late in being posted, but like I said a couple of posts ago I have been swamped with starting placement and juggling my part-time work. Don't get me wrong I am loving it, just leaves very little time for blogging, especially taking photographs. Scottish weather means that there are only a few hours of good lighting in the day which I always seem to miss!

Gilchrist & Soames Shower Gel; £13.75 - So I adore this little minature shower gel, the smell is super scrumptous and when lathered on makes my skin feel silky smooth. The price is also great for a high-end beauty product.

Beatitude Peace Body Oil; £34 - I've never really used a body oil before as I am fairly new to the whole beauty fandom, so wasn't sure what to make of this. After trying it a couple of times on my legs, I have felt a difference in how soft they feel and also noticed a change in my legs looking less dry.

Urban Veda Radiance Exfoliating Facial Polish; - Unfortunatley I am not keen on this product what-so-ever. I am pretty picky about the products I use of my face, as my skin can be very sensitive. This just didn't agree with me and caused a couple of breakouts. I'm sure it is a great product just not for me.

Leighton Denny Nail Polish; £11 - Leighton Denny is a brand I have been meaning to try for ages as I have heard great things about them, but never got round to it. I really like this simple grey-silver colour as it is easy to wear with most things. The polish is also fairly thick so only requires a couple of coats.

Green & Black's Dark Chocolate; £2.29 - Who doesn't love chocolate?  I could lie to you and say I kept this as a treat, but I didnt. I ate it the minute the post man dropped this off at my door. I have no self control.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner; £12 - I live in black liquid eyeliner. So when I heard this was the most talked about product in the Feb box I was really excited to try it. Currently I use a 17 product which I love because it lets me do both thin and think strokes. Eyeko seemed a little thin for me, I would need to really layer up. I think I will stick to my existing eyeliner but I won't discount this.

January Birchbox

Sunday, 2 February 2014

So I finally jumped onto the bandwagon with the whole beauty box subscription. You've probably seen a million of these posts already, and here is another to satisfy your curiosity. If you are unsure whether to subscribe then let me ease your worries and tell you to do it! I wasn't sure at first either, or which brand to finally chose, but now I received the first box I am so happy that I subscribed. I am fairly new to the whole extent of the beauty industry - I just to be fine with just foundation and concealer, until I realised there is so much more to consider. Cleansers, Toners, Moisturisers and Primer just to name a few. How is a girl to keep up if you barely even know what they are, never mind which brand to choose?

Thus introducing Birchbox. The easy and reliable way to explore new and popular beauty products in the industry. One of the many reasons I chose the brand was on their packaging. Its simple, chic and totally cute. I adore the little box and bag combination that it arrived in, and will have to put this to good use for make-up storage. My box contained a number of samples ranging from hand cream to hair conditioner. I just love the variety of it all.

Lavera Basis Sensitive Hand Cream - Truthfully I'm not taken aback by this hand cream. Don't get me wrong it is rich and thick - everything a good moisturiser should be, but I hate the smell. I am not sure if it is the organic Jojoba oil, but it just tickles my fancy. I have a perfectly fabulous hand cream from OPI which smells amazing. Realistically I won't bother buying.

Blanc Cachemire Day Cream - Advertised as using all natural ingredients this day cream claims to regenerate the skin leaving it firmer. This cream is very light and a little goes a long way. Currently I just bought a No7 night cream that I am in love with - review to follow soon - and am hoping to buy the matching day cream. So I am not entirely sure if I will opt for this Blanc Cachemire day cream especially considering the £55 price tag.

Philp Kingsley Moisture Balancing Conditioner - My hair and I have a love/hate relationship. It loves to be frizzy and I hate it, as a result I am always looking for new hair products which will help me in my quest for great looking hair. I haven't had the time to try this yet, but am really looking forward. The full size bottle is only £19 so if all goes well I wouldn't begrudge paying the very reasonable price for it.

Itsu Miso Soup - Surprisingly I have never really tried Miso soup before, but I am keen to try. The way to great skin care is affected by what we put into our body. That McDonalds burger really doesn't do any wonders for your skin. So a healthy Miso soup is just what the doctor ordered.

BeeKind Body Lotion - I actually really love this product. Smell is a huge determining factor when I am buying any beauty products, as you probably already know. Weirdly this lotion with honey and chamomile extracts resembles the same fragrence of that found in Lemsip. Which, for me, has connotations of cleanliness and feeling better.

Benefit Porefessional Primer - When I heard that Birchbox would be featuring some of Benefits products in their beauty boxes over the next year I had to subscribe. I adore anything benefit produces and with the hype around the Porefessional primer alone I needed to try this. As always I have not been let down, although there has been many mixed reviews, personally I really like the texture and feel as though it has kept my make-up on well all day, even to a day of rushing around at work. You should buy it, I know I will.
