Hello from... Thailand

Tuesday, 13 December 2016

This has been such a crazy year, with many ups and downs, but I was so lucky to be able to visit Thailand on a recent holiday! I am absolutely obsessed with travelling right now and seeing as much of the world as possible, so ticking Thailand off the list was so exciting. We started off the trip with four nights in Bangkok before flying down to the island of Koh Samui to spend another ten nights. Initially we stayed in the U Sukhumvit in Bangkok which I would definitely recommend staying in. The location was great and the hotel put on free tuktuks which could take you to the nearest mall, which had plenty of shops, restaurants and access to the sky train. Our hotel also has a rooftop top which definitely helped when the heat got high into the 30°'s! When we were in Koh Samui we stayed in the Imperial Boat House beach resort which was right on the beach with a fantastic pool.

Go to...
The Sky Bar in Bangkok. Placed in the very centre of the city on the 63rd floor, it is the highest open-air bar in the world. This was one of the highlights of my trip, although the drinks were a little pricey the view was completely worth it. With full panoramic views, this is something that you don't want to miss.

In Koh Samui we went to some fantastic restaurants like The Hard Rock Cafe, SALA and Spago, but by far the best place to visit is Tai by Red Snapper which do all you can eat sushi! Not only is it a great price but it also tastes amazing. I'd highly recommend.

Don't go to...
Honestly, there were so many great places to go to whilst away there is very little to put onto this list! If anything, I'd recommend doing and seeing as much as you can. I'd love to go back and see more of Thailand, there are so many islands still to explore.

Sheepskin Rug - John Lewis / Wooden Tray - H&M / White Mirror - Ikea / Black Lantern - H&M / Kitchen Cart - eBay / Grey Cushion - H&M / White Cushion - H&M / Gold Lantern - H&M

Currently I am obsessed with trying to update my flat and making it look Pinterest ready - which is very hard to do when you live in a rented flat with limited furniture and colour scheme. Thus I am trying to collect lots of things that will aid in my mission. Eventually I do hope to be able to save enough to afford our own place so for now I'm just trying to make the best of what I have.

So without realising it I think majority of the items are from H&M, they have really been improving their homewear variety recently and I've fallen in love with more than a few pieces. My key pieces are definitely these metal lanterns which would look great together on my dining table, alongside this wooden tray. I love having loads of candles in my flat, especially the pillar ones, so having a tray for them to all sit on together is a great way of displaying them. It is also nice to update the cushions on my couch to keep the room looking fresh and modern. I think I need to replace some of the inner cushions as they have begun to lose shape after all the wear that they get, so I'm excited to buy some new covers for them too.

I really need a new mirror for the flat too, especially one that is large enough that you are able to see your whole outfit in, this cheap one from ikea is great as it can be wall mounted as well as just lean against the wall if you don't want to make any holes.

Also how amazing is this sheepskin rug??? Every time I see it I say that I really want to buy it, but always put it off as its not something I really need. Not only is this the softest thing you will feel in ages, but it is also amazing value compared to similar items on the market - it's only £35. The grey colour is my favourite as its something I haven't seen before but I do love the classic cream too.

Lastly, I have been looking for a storage alternative for my kitchen, we live in an open plan kitchen/livingroom area with limited storage so I wanted to find something that is not only practical but also would look great in the room. This is a great compromise as it has just enough concealed storage and can be moved easily to where I need it.

Recently Purchased

Sunday, 8 May 2016

I haven't really had a huge amount of time to really do any serious shopping lately. Mostly because I am very skint from holidays and friends and family's birthdays. But thought I would make a post of what I have bought. As a visual merchandiser I tend to get my work clothes pretty messy from paint etc so often I buy my uniform from Primark. Whilst I was in recently I found this this amazing chain necklace. For quite some time I had been looking for an oversized layered necklace and thought I'd give this one a try. Since it was only £8 I really didn't mind if it broke but I've had so many compliments when wearing it that I'm really glad I got this.

Jewellery is something that I've really been investing into lately, whilst I was on a quite rummage in H&M I found this circle hoop earrings which come in a pack of three. There are two gold in the pack and one silver and they are three different sizes. These went perfectly with my new necklace. Here is a similar pair. Lastly, I  bought these Michael Kors sunglasses. I have been looking for a good pair of sunglasses for a while, as when I tend to go abroad my previous pairs always get scratched or stained by suncreams and oils. It is safe to say I will definitely be taking much better care of this pair!

What have you been buying recently?

Lust List #14

Wednesday, 27 April 2016

1 / 2 / 3
Yes this lust list is all about getting summer ready. Not only am I obsessed with the sun after being away on holiday for two weeks but I find myself really wanting to look for some new bikinis. I always think its a great idea just to refresh your summer wardrobe by buying bikinis that are really versatile. Typically I like to have a few which are block colours in classic styles which are easy to mix and match with more patterned or bright colours.

4 / 5 / 6

I'm really in love with all of these swimsuits, but especially 3 & 4. I think they look like they would be such a flattering shape to wear on the beach and around the pool. Tops which are comfy and not too padded are something that can be quite hard to find, as many high street bikinis seems to have so much padding to emphasise your assets which really doesn't appeal to me. As you can see they are all quite similar shapes as I've found this really suits my body type.

Do you love these bikinis?

Hello from... Barbados

Saturday, 9 April 2016

So I haven't been able to post for a while because I was in BARBADOS! I had planned to try and blog whilst I was away but the internet in our villa was pretty slow and very temperamental so I couldn't get the chance. As soon as I got back I went straight to work and have been catching up with sleep and such things ever since. So here is Barbados in a nutshell.

The island was unbelievably beautiful and I cannot stress enough how much that everyone should go if they ever get the chance. We originally flew into Bridgetown and spent quite a lot of our time there as it was where the sailing competition was being held that my boyfriend's sister was competing in. Although we chose to stay in Holetown, which I was incredibly we did. Bridgetown is great for the hustle and bustle but Holetown is where the best beaches and restaurants are.

Go to...
Daphnes for a beachside dinner. Although slightly more expensive the food definitely lived up to the price. I'd recommend the antipasto board to start. We also tried Lonestar another recommended place to eat on the island, for its famous Sunday lunch. The setting was incredible, as you can see from the picture on the right and the food great, for us the service really let the whole experience down. Limegrove mall is fantastic for places to eat, you should also check out the Fusion rooftop bar - go for when the sun is setting for a fantastic view.

Don't go to...
The Animal Flower Cave, not only were there no animal flowers, aka sea anemones, but we had the most expensive lunch which was school dinner standard. If you are planning on a Catamaran trip don't use Cool Runnings or Tiami, although they might be highly rated they pack people on and there is very little room to move around. We went with Elegance and they were extremely courteous and fantastic.

Holiday Ready

Sunday, 6 March 2016

I'm so excited that it is finally March because that means that it is almost holiday time! I've been planning my Barbados trip for a while and now it's only two weeks away I wanted to get holiday ready. So I have started picking up some of my essentials in the run up to going.

Tanning Lotion
Back in my summer holiday last year I tried this Nivea Protect & Bronze tanning lotion and really loved it. Not only does the lotion leave my skin feeling really soft without that really awful oily feel that you can sometimes get, but it also smells really nice. I love that the lotion helps to accelerate the tanning process as I always want help getting that fresh, glowing tan. Which is why I had to buy it again for this holiday. I'll use this alongside Riemann P20 which is my favourite once a day sun protection.

After Sun
On my last holiday I tried the Nivea In-Shower After Sun Lotion which I really loved to give my skin some moisture after a day in the sun. My only problem with it was that sometimes I still felt as though my skin was dry. I've read quite a few reviews on the Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Body Butter so have been wanting to try it for quite some time. I love the coconut smell and will be so excited to try this out soon.

Holiday Reading
I love reading on holiday, it's one of my most favourite things to do while relaxing by the pool or on the beach. Getting obsessed with a good book is such a great way to de-stress whilst abroad and at home, so I try to read as much as I can. I'm such a fast reader that it can sometimes be a problem because I finish all my books before the holiday, that's why I tend to take around four physical books and some on my phone or iPad. I'd love to hear your holiday reading recommendations so leave me a message in the comments!
